The First School-leaver Class Of The Digital Secondary School Has Taken The Final Examinations
At the end of the 2006/2007 school year the first school-leaver class of the digital secondary school has taken the final examinations. The correspondent secondary school training which is counted as a world novelty fulfilled the hopes bound to it. The students studying and struggling a lot finally have met the requirements. 54 student started the final exam and 27 students obtained the certificate of final examination. The rest of the students had to repeat the written Mathematics exam which could be said to be more difficult than it was before. The average result of the final examination is 2,8.
According to the assessment of the board of examiners the exams were going on smoothly and according to the regulations of the law. The students got praises for their answers in the following subjects: Hungarian Grammar and Literature, History, Informatics, Biology and Geography. The innovativity of the educational method, the tolerance and the attention provide opportunity and chance for these adult students to the social closing up and to a more successful prosperity. Many of the students who have taken the final examination are planning to start their studies at university or college, and obtain the specialized qualifications bounded to the secondary school graduation.
At the school-year closing ceremony in Miskolc, on the 2nd of July 2007, Pál Veres the headmaster of Ferenc Földes Grammar School gave to the school-leaver class the certificates of the final examination which were obtained with an educational method said to be unique in Hungary and internationally as well. At the school-year closing ceremony the program starter Dr. György Csepeli, the politics director of GKM, Andor Ürmüs, the head of the SZMM Roma Integration Department, and Dezső Szegedi, the representative of the OKM Roma Integration Secretariat called the attention onto the significance and development of the roma education. It was emphasized that for the continuation and extension of the program the government will provide important resources in the scope of the New Hungary Development Plan. Sándor Káli, the Mayor of Miskolc expressed his joy, that Miskolc may be the center of this very innovative equal opportunity program, from which he expects, that it will continue to reduce the unemployment of the North-Hungarian region, and he assured the program of his maximum support.
The students in the rest of the classes also finished successfully the 2nd semester of school-year 2006/2007. The study average of the four classes is 3,21. The drop-out is under 10% in the 10th, 11th, and 12th. classes, but more considerable in the starting class, where it is close to 50%. For the students in this semester the school competition of INNOCENTER Innovation Center Kht. was announced again. The student who have done the best final examination and the first three students from each classes who have achieved the best study results could have taken 20 – 20 thousand HUF cash award from Dr. László Balla, the general director of INNOCENTER Kht.

2006/2007 school year first semester result
It was the fourth semester appraisal on the 1st of February 2007, which was held in the scope of a carnival celebration. Though the work done here is only in „pioneer shoes”, but we start to step out slowly from the experimentational phase. The starting grade is just before the final examination. The applications for the exams are mostly done, those who continue their education are already filling the application forms.
The methods and forms of the education, the examination and assesment methods have been already developed. Our students can adapt well to the teaching forms, the education is efficient. For the 11th grade we organize a test final examination from the compulsory exam subjects - Hungarian Grammar and Literature, Mathematics, History - which was tried already in the last school year.
The semester result of the school: 3,22
We announced again the schools competition for the good students in this semester. The schools competition was announced by INNOCENTER Innovation Center Kht.. Based on the last semester votes of the students, in the 9. and 10. year in each classes the best student, in the 11. – 12. year the best 3 – 3 best students were rewarded.
After the appraisal of the semester results the event continued in a carnival mood.
Dr. Csepeli György, the general political director of GKM, who started the Digital Secondary School project, participated in the carnival event, greeted the students of the school and announced the results of the schools competition.
Also honoured our event with their presence: Simon Dávid political advisor GKM, Niedermüller Anna educational director, House of Future, Racskó Péter director of Apertus Kht., Szityka Szabolcs captain. Director of the Juvenile BV Institute, Gulyás József, leading counsellor, Mayor Office of Miskolc, Department of educational, cultural, and civil connections.

School Year 2005/2006 Semester Assessment
We had our third semester assessment at the Digital Secondary School, which was organized in a scope of a carnival, on the 3rd of February, 2006. Although our work is still pioneer, we are starting to get out of the experimental level.
The methods of evaluation, education and assessment have been developed.
Our students have adapted to the new form of education and teaching, which are said to be effective.

A school competition was also organized for those students who finished the semester with the best results. The competition was announced by the INNOCENTER Innovation Centre public company.
By the students’ election, on the 9th and 10th class the best students were rewarded, on the 11th class the three best students were chosen. According to the students request, the assessments were decided by election. A 256 Mb pendrive was given away among the voters.
Dr György Csepeli – Political Under-secretary, Ministry of Informatics and Communications, started the project of Digital Secondary School, Sándor Lakatos - Commissioner, Ministry of Economy and Transport participated and greeted the students on the carnival.

Alun
Michael - Minister of State for Industry and the Regions from Great
Britain, and Nigel Hickson - Head of European ICT Policy, visited
Hungary to resort the Youthful’s Regional Penalty Executive
Institute on 13 January, 2006. The guests were accompanied by Dr.
György Csepeli – Political State Secretary, from the Ministry of
Informatics and Communications, and Ervin Kajzinger – Deputy Head of
Division, from the Ministry of Informatics and Communications. The
goal of the visit was to become acquainted with the educational
system used there and with its efficiency.
Major General Dr István Bökönyi, the Institute’s nationwide
commander greeted and informed the guests about the Institute’s
inland actualities.
Colonel
László Joó, the Youthful’s Regional Penalty Executive Institute’s
commander talked about the educational work in the institute and its
info-communicational background. Deputy Mayor Vilmos Fedor,
representative of Miskolc, Dr. László Sárközi, Senior-officer
representative of the University of Miskolc Centre of Continuing
Education, Erzsébet Szeppelfeld Senior-officer, Ferenc Földes
Secondary Grammar School, and Dr László Balla, Chief Executive, from
INNOCENTER public company have also participated in the meeting. Mrs
Edit Czakó Educational Head from INNOCENTER public company gave a
presentation about the operation of the Digital Secondary School in
general and in it’s current environment. After the presentations,
they surveyed the classroom and talked to the Digital Secondary
School’s students.

The Commencement of
School Year 2005/2006
A
correspondent grammar school training, aid by computers started for those who
are belonging to underprivileged Romany communities in a consortium
collaboration among Ferenc Földes Secondary Grammar School, University of
Miskolc and the INNOCENTER Innovation Centre public company with a special
support of the Ministry of Communication and Information from the beginning of
September 2003.
After four years studies a school leaving exam can be done.
In ownership of the certification there is possibility to go to a university or
to a college or to other superlative trainings, for which an attached a school
leaving exam is necessary.
From
the beginning of 2003/2004 school year the training has a serious attendance.
The program is successful as it was expected previously, as
can be said after the school years 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 have been finished.
Those students who enrolled in September 2003 are now beginning the 11th's class.
In
the school year 2005/2006 the school will keep going in the same system and
condition.
This September 265 person enrolled the school, which will
begin in class nine.
Class ten begins with 85 students.
Class eleven begins with 69 students.
As it was organised in previous years there will be a
learning competition for the students to finish the school year with best
graduation.
The competition is announced by the INNOCENTER Innovation
Centre public company.
On the commencement outing Kálmán Kovács, Minister of
Communication and Information, supporter of the Digital Secondary School
project, Dr Vilmos Kormos, head of the Local Government of Miskolc, Mayor's
Office Educational Sport and Civil Relation were present.

Opening 2004/2005 school
year
Computer supported correspondence grammar training
has been realized in the Digital Secondary School with cooperation
of the consortium of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar School and
University of Miskolc and Innocenter Innovative Center Pc, supported
by Ministry of Information and Communication from September 2003 for
disadvantaged situation of the gypsy company.
The
digital materials needed for education have been prepared by the
teachers of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar School. The purpose of
coursebooks for secondary school and their online auxiliary
materials supported by the program of SULINET Digital Knowledgebase
of Ministry of Education is to help personal learning and developing
by the use of varied media, interactivity, and network
communications.
The Digital Secondary School provides the access of
computer for all their students on their place of residence or near
that. The conditions of learning are provided by Regional
Consultation Centers where the local teachers help the students too.
The students keep in touch with their teachers on Internet and take
part in consultations and exams three times in a module in Regional
Consultation Centers.
This
training has been great interested in 2003/2004 school year. The
program has turned out great success, 2003/2004 school year has
finished. This school works continuously with similar conditions
and in similar system in 2004/2005 school year. The new
registered students are 259, who will start in 9th class. The
beginner numbers of the 10th class are 89 who passed the 2003/2004
school year. School competition will be again announced for
better students this school year. Innocenter Innovative Center Pc
will announce the school competition for classes.

Gyula Zámbó, expert of gypsy affairs of Ministry of Informatics and
Communications, founder of Digital Secondary School project.
Closing ceremony in the
Digital Secondary School
The
first, experimental school year of Digital Secondary School was
finished successfully opened in September of 2003. This training has
been realized in the Digital Secondary School with cooperation of
the consortium of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar School and
University of Miskolc and Innocenter Innovation Center Pc, supported
by Ministry of Information and Communication, is considered also
unique on international scale.
There are two sections in this modern school, at
Gipsy Section disadvantaged gipsy adults can take school-leaving
exams, and at Criminal Enforcement Institute in the Regional
Criminal Enforcement Institute of Youth, in Szirmabesenyő. The
purpose of the digital syllabus made by Digital Secondary School
itself and made up within SULINET Digital Knowledge Base programme
in connection with the system, that the students can complete the 4
years in distance education with taking advantages of multimedia and
Internet communication. The Digital Secondary School provides the
access of computer for all their students on their place of
residence or near that, in Regioanl Consultation Centers, where
local teachers also help in learning. Students have contacts with
their teachers on Internet, they have 4 subjects in each modul, and
they regularly have consultations and examinations.
On
speech-day dr. Dávid Simon,the political under secretary of the
state of IHM, addressed students and said, the Ministry had been
very proud of the work of students and teachers. Pál Veres, the
headmaster of Ferenc Földes Grammer School, said, the first school
year was end successfully as it was espected. 40 per cent of the
registered 264 students got school reports and the school avarage
was 3,16. Those students, whose school achievment were at least 3,
can get supporting in the next school year for continuing their
studies, since Public Fund for Hungarian Gipsies announced
scholarship for 2004/2005 school year.

Pc, as at the end of the first semester, gave rewards for the best
students: Tiborné Török (Edelény), Izabella Budai (Szerencs), Zsolt
Budai (Szikszó), Györgyné Lázár (Mezokövesd), Anna Farkas Rontóné
(Tiszaújváros) and Elemér Pusi (Edelény). László Balla said, because
of the successfull of this initiative, they would like to enter a
work for an application of European Union for getting Digital
Secondary School afloat in several European countries. The
initiatior of this programme call the attention, that a new school
year begins in Semtember and apply for till 15 of August. They
wished happy holiday in the hope that thay will meet in autumn, at
the beggining of the 2nd year.

The first term has finished in the Digital
Secondary School. The gipsy students, whose disadvantaged position,
could be able to get to know the results of the schools competition
announced in the begining of this term in a carneval ceremony. The
managers of this project have published to plan to extend this
training form to several other mounty.
This
training has been realized in the Digital Secondary School with
cooperation of the consortium of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar
School and University of Miskolc and Innocenter Innovation Center
Pc, supported by Ministry of Information and Communication from

students in the gipsy section and 51 students in the Criminal
Enforcement Institute have started to learn. This training made up
of four years long term, closed by final examination. Most of this
training has distance education, computer supported and online
digital secondary education. The consultations and the meeting
teachers are in the regional education centers of this mounty. This
project is innovative initiation in secondary education even
international.

project seems to be successful and the conceptions have existed for
developing. The 9th class would be gone on learning with increasing
system in our county and another 9th class would be started in
September. In addition this course would be started with 9th class
in other three counties and the Digital Primary School would be also
arranged in other three counties.

in the closing carneval ceremony Dr. György Csepeli, the political
under secretary of the state of IHM, reported the results of the
schools competition in Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar School. The

The
The Criminal Enforcement Department of Digital Secondary School has
been opened on Octobre 1st 2003 in Szirmabesenyő, in the Regional
Criminal Enforcement Institute of Youth. 19 prisoners and also 30
workers take part in this course.
In the opening ceremony was held in the present of
Béla Mohácsi (assistant of under secretary of state of Ministry of
Informatics and Communications, responsible for programs of
information society), Dr. Miklós Faragó Hankó (political under
secretery of state of Ministry of Justice), Dr.László Szalai
(general, director of the Regional Criminal Enforcement Institute of
Youth), Dr. István Bökönyi (major-general, national commander of
Criminal Enforcement), Pál Veres (headmaster of Földes Ferenc
secondary grammar school) and Dr. László Balla (managing director of
INNOCENTER Pc.).
During computer supported on-line distance
education students can acquire the curriculum by solving and sending
the exercises via Internet according to individual schedule than
taking final exam.
The
education is realized in a 20 sites computer labs, the digital
curriculum needed for this education is written and set up by
Teaching staff of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar School in Miskolc
with cooperation of University of Miskolc and INNOCENTER Innovation
Center. These digital materials are an accessories for complet and
accredited secondary school books.
In Szirmabesenyő in this renovated section, which
has been opened in march 2002 the inhabitants of the institute are
provided with varied programs according to their personality, age,
their social level. The managment of the institute focuses on the
education, vocational training and skill training and fillingthe
gaps of basic knowledges.This institute continuously provides
primary education in joint level classes. The increasing demands of
information sociaty and digital distance learning opens the
prospects of the readaption to everyday life. The students will have
better opportunities by filling in their educational gaps, The
digital distance learning is innovative initiation in secondary
education even international. Similar projects have already
introduced in the USA.
This unique initiation will take important place in
the successful reintegration of prisoners.

Gipsy section
The
gipsy section of the Digital Secondary School was opened on
September 11. 2003 in the present of Dr. György Csepeli (the under-

The purpose of the Digital Secondary School is to
provide certificate for those who has dropped the conventional
secondary school. It has been created for the less fortunate
students who have the aptitude, open mind and willingness to learn
toward their final exam but because their disadvantaged situation,
financial or mobility difficulties they are not able to join to the
conventional conformation.
This innovative distance learning model ensures training for students
by means of Internet.
This year 213 persons will start trial school year in Digital
Secondary School. Most of them are gipsies living in the
disadvantaged regions of B.-A.-Z. county but contributing to the
local public and communal activites. The will be the first to have
opportunity to get the necessary certificate which ensures
conditions of continuouing education and progress.
The school year following a modul system made up of 7 week long terms,
every of them are closed by examination . The 0. module intoduces
students with the use of computer , Internet communication hereby
ensures that they are able to learn in this secondary school.
The
consortium of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar School and University
of Miskolc and INNOCENTER Innovation Center PC. take part in the
project with sponsorship of Ministry of Informatics and Comunication
and Ministry of Education.
This project is innovative initiation in secondary
education even international. The digital distance secondary school
is not unfamiliar along English-speaking world, particularly in the
USA. The speciality of the Digital Secondary School of Miskolc is
the amalgamation of combination of the present and the distance
education, considering education metods. Internet provides uniform
platform for both presentation of education contens and
communication between users.
The digital materials needed for education have
been prepared by the teachers of Földes Ferenc Secondary Grammar
School. The purpose of online auxiliary materials which complete the
coursebook for secondary school is to help personal learning and
developing by the use of varied media, interactivity, and network
communications.
The Digital Secondary School sponsored by Education
Managment of MATAV Rt provides the access of computer for all their
students on their place of residence or near that. The conditions of
learning are provided by 12 Regional Consultation Centers where the
local supervisors help the students too. The students keep in touch
with their teachers on Internet and take part in consultations and
exams three times in a module in Regional Consultation Centers. The
exercises and projects have to be performed according to centrally
determined schedule. |
